"Sarajevska" slippers are handmade and handstitched. The embroidery is done also solely by hand, and every pair comes with different embroidery, which makes every pair truly unique and one of a kind.
The lining is the finest sheep and calf leather while the upper is made from 100% cotton plush, embroidered with golden threads and beads. The embroidery technique used to make these slippers is the same technique that has been used for centuries to decorate ladies' vests of Bosnian traditional outfits. The thread used is woven in-house by our staff since it can't be bought commercially anywhere.
Listed as the intangible cultural heritage of Sarajevo Canton, as well in the Register of good safeguarding practices of Bosnia and Herzegovina, also listed in the UNESCO-published collection "Traditional arts and crafts in Bosnia and Herzegovina", and holder of the Geographical label of authenticity "sarajevska" slipper is the pinnacle of our aspiration to present our craft and its full beauty along with our rich history to the world.
The time needed to make one pair of these slippers is about 3 days.
